Race rules
& safety.

Please read these requirements before registering. Entering GTR means accepting the applicable event rules, official instructions and registration-provider terms.

Safety comes before finishing.The Race Director, medical team, forest officials and authorised marshals may stop, hold, reroute or withdraw a participant whenever continuing is considered unsafe.

Eligibility and category selection

  • Age is calculated as of race day, 11 October 2026.
  • A parent or legal guardian must provide consent for every participant under 18.
  • The 30km is intended for trained endurance runners with recent long-distance running or trail experience.
  • Participants must select a category appropriate to their health, fitness, preparation and experience.

Medical fitness and emergency information

  • Participate only when medically fit, adequately trained and free from symptoms that could make endurance exercise unsafe.
  • Seek medical advice before registering if you have a cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological or other condition affected by strenuous exercise.
  • Provide accurate emergency-contact, allergy, medication and relevant medical information during registration or bib collection.
  • Do not start if you have fever, chest discomfort, unusual breathlessness, vomiting, diarrhoea, acute illness or significant injury.
  • The medical team may examine or withdraw any participant when continuing could endanger the runner or others.

A registration waiver does not replace appropriate medical advice or personal preparation.

Mandatory 30km equipment

The 30km route may enter dense forest vegetation and include thorny bushes, exposed trail and uneven natural surfaces. Every 30km runner must carry or wear the following for the full course:

Closed trail-running shoes with dependable tread and grip Clothing fully covering the arms and legs Fully charged mobile phone with the GTR emergency number saved Running vest/backpack and minimum 1-litre hydration capacity Whistle and basic personal first-aid supplies Reusable cup/bottle and sufficient personal nutrition Race bib visible on the front throughout the event

Kit checks may take place before or during the race. A 30km participant missing mandatory equipment may be prevented from starting or withdrawn from the course.

The organiser may add weather-dependent items to the final checklist. The confirmed checklist will be issued in the participant handbook.

Forest and wildlife conduct

  • Stay on the officially marked route. Shortcuts and entry into restricted forest areas are prohibited.
  • Follow all instructions from forest officials, race marshals, medical personnel and volunteers.
  • Never approach, disturb, feed, photograph at close range or attempt to chase wildlife.
  • If wildlife is encountered, remain calm, keep a safe distance and follow marshal instructions.
  • Headphones are strongly discouraged and may be prohibited on designated forest sections.
  • Do not remove plants, stones, natural material or cultural property from the route.
  • Smoking, fire, alcohol and prohibited substances are not allowed on the course.

On-course safety and withdrawal

  • Wear the official bib visibly and pass every designated checkpoint.
  • Carry required hydration and use aid stations responsibly; do not depend exclusively on aid stations for personal nutrition.
  • Help another runner in a genuine emergency and notify the nearest marshal or race-control contact.
  • If withdrawing, report immediately to the nearest checkpoint or marshal.
  • Never leave the marked course or travel home without formally reporting a withdrawal.
  • Cut-off times, checkpoint locations, route markings, aid stations and emergency contacts will be published in the final participant handbook.

Climate-action and Leave No Trace rules

  • No littering. Carry all wrappers and waste to the next designated collection point.
  • Use reusable hydration containers; disposable cups may not be provided on the route.
  • Do not damage vegetation, contaminate water, disturb wildlife or leave event material behind.
  • Respect local residents, volunteers, forest staff and other trail users.
  • Deliberate littering, route damage or unsafe conduct may result in removal from the event.

Route changes, weather and cancellation

Forest permission, weather, fire risk, heavy rain, flooding, wildlife movement, government directions or another safety concern may require the organiser to delay, shorten, reroute, suspend or cancel a category or the event.

  • Safety decisions by the organiser and competent authorities are final on race day.
  • Participants must follow official GTR communication rather than unofficial route information.
  • Refund, transfer, category-change and deferral conditions displayed by the official registration provider apply to the entry.
  • If the organiser cancels or materially changes the event, available options will be communicated through official channels in accordance with the applicable registration terms.

Participant terms

  • No prize money: GTR is a participation-focused trail run. No cash awards or competitive prizes are offered in any category.
  • Personal responsibility: Each runner is responsible for preparation, suitable equipment, hydration, nutrition and compliance with event instructions.
  • Photography: Event photographs and video may be captured for safety, documentation and GTR promotion, subject to applicable consent and privacy requirements.
  • Behaviour: Harassment, abuse, dangerous conduct, bib misuse, route cutting or refusal to follow authorised instructions may result in removal.
  • Final instructions: The participant handbook, race briefing and race-day announcements form part of these rules.

These rules provide event guidance and do not exclude rights or obligations that cannot legally be excluded. Final legal review and authority/forest-permission requirements will prevail.
